PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION
--Wanda Hartley Butts 11/8/2006
Have you ever heard God ask in your whirlwind,
“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?”
Before we can really come to terms with ourselves,
we must first determine our answers to God’s questions.
“Declare to me, if you understand, or really know:
Who stretched the measuring line that determined
the size of the earth? Where are the foundations secured?
Who laid the corner stone? Were you present
when the first stars resonated together, and all
the creation of God rejoiced? Who put doors
on the sea, and let it brake forth, like it had issued
out of the womb? Who topped it with a cloud
and banked its sides in murkiness, and set it
in determined areas, with bars and doors, stating,
‘So far shall you come, but no further:
and here your proud waves will settle?’” (Job 38:1-11)
Answering God’s questions first, will help get the facts
straight and get one’s self in proper perspective:
Help us know: He is Father and we are His.

Supreme Power
--Wanda Hartley Butts 11/8/2006
O Lord, I bow my head in prayer:
I know I need you;
I need your energy to live!
Yet, words fail me to know what to ask!
Since you live in me by your Spirit,
send home to our Father words
I know not how to utter!
Intercede for me with Him
in agreement with His will,
so when He searches this temple
He will cleanse the conscious
with the Divine Reality…
and this human will be a house of prayer.
The Ending of the Relationship
--Wanda Hartley Butts 11/9/2006
Judas, who would betray Jesus,
sat at the table with the disciples.
He had determined to betray his Lord,
but in callous hypocrisy he shared
the fellowship of this Last Supper.
It is easy to become shocked
by what Judas did; yet professing
commitment to Christ, and then
denying Him with how one lives
is also betrayal—a serious error!
It is denying Christ’s love to disobey
Him; it is denying his truth to distrust
Him; it is denying his deity to reject
His Authority. Do our words and actions
match? If not, consider a change heart
…as protection against the consequences.
THE ENCOUNTER OF A DIFFERENT CLASS
--Wanda Hartley Butts 11/9/2006
How much have you heard about God?
How many sermons have you heard on Him?
Have you searched his Word for His truth?
Would you like to experience his presence?
Would you like to hear Him speak to you?
So you could learn about Him from Him?
Job confessed: I had heard about you before,
but now I have seen you with my own eyes. (Job 42:5)
Would you like to be able to say that?
We debate his teachings and miss experiencing
his holiness and his mercy in our disputes,
but to get acquainted with Him we must …
Be still, and know that I am God: Psalms 46:10 (KJV)
Then we will put our hand over our mouth
to halt its opinion; admit, “I have said too much
already. I have nothing more to say,” like Job.
Once we get to know Him, we will praise Him
To the unbelieving, and everywhere we go!

God Knows
--Wanda Hartley Butts11/11/2006
People wish to know what’s ahead
so they can plan and prepare for it;
but God chooses not to reveal all of it.
He knows what will happen,
but he told us all we need to
know to prepare for the future.
When we live by his principles,
He will not leave us; nor forsake us
He will be in us, revealing the way.
God knows what will happen,
and because he will be with us
through it all, we need not fear.
We don’t have to know the future
to have faith in God; we need
faith in God to be …in the future.
A NEW RESOURCE (Zechariah 8:13)
--Wanda Hartley Butts 11/15/2006
People’s sin against God may be great,
but not nearly as great as God’s mercy!
Repentance from sin not only brings pardon,
but blessings beyond our wildest dreams.
God wants people to forgive themselves
and move on. They may have been a curse
but God wants to turn them into a blessing--
their release from sin an example for others.
What greater purpose could people serve?
Once immobilized because of past sins, now
motivated by God’s grace and mercy, to live
a new life; not wallowing in the quilt of sin!
The Peace of Christ
--Wanda Hartley Butts 11/15/2006
Sin, fear, uncertainty , doubt, and
many other forces war within us,
but peace from Christ can rule,
restraining these hostile forces,
offering relief from inner conflict.
Jesus promised to send this peace
so His disciples could have--no fear.
The effect of his Holy Spirit’s work
within is deep, steadfast harmony
with God. Unlike worldly peace, (that
only occurs with the lack of conflict),
Christ’s peace is positive assurance
that in any situation, we need not fear
events present or future. The evil power
in the world ever looms menacingly,
but has no control over a living Christ.
